Exciting reunion update!

The reunion dinner on Friday, December 7 at 6pm at the NPC will include a panel discussion on Stripes reporting during the Vietnam War as part of the Vietnam at 50 coverage.

The panel will include:
  • Mark Bowden, author of Hue, 1968 and Black Hawk Down (the movie about the US Forces struggles in Somalia)
  • John Olsen, Stripes’ Vietnam combat photographer whose photography is the focus of the Marines at Tet exhibit at the Newseum
  • One other Stripes reporter from the Vietnam era expected to be part of the panel.

Stars and Stripes Alumni!!

In October 2018 Stars and Stripes headquarters will move to its new location at 633 3rd Street NW Washington, DC. To mark the occasion, Stars and Stripes will host a reunion for the Stars and Stripes alumni from December 6th through 9th.

It is anticipated travelers from outside the DC metropolitan area will arrive Thursday the 6th of December. On Friday will be an open house at the new office on 3rd street to include a panel of stripes alumni to explore their experiences with Stripes and for all of us to share and join. Additionally, the Stripes current commanders for the Europe, Middle East and Pacific operations will attend to talk about Stripes today.

Friday evening will be a dinner at the National Press Club with a guest speaker.

Saturday will be a visit to the Newseum for all who desire to attend.
